Great Weekend!

Had a great weekend at Homecoming! Saw old friends on Friday night at the Multibands concert and then the fun just continued on Saturday at the football game. I was a member of the UMass Marching Band (UMMB) when I went to school there, and it was such an amazing experience. The friends that I met in that band are some of my closest friends today. They say that when you join the UMMB you instantly gain 350 friends. This year the band is 385 members strong and simply amazing.

The tradition following the post game show by the band is for the alumni to head to the town sports bar (Rafters). This year many people were scared away by the rain, which ended up tricking us all. I checked the weather daily last week to find that Saturday was going to be a wash out. Imagine our surprise when we awoke Saturday morning to sunny skies. It did get cloudy and VERY cold, but the rain held out which made it perfection! Anyway, due to the last minute weather change, homecoming was not as well attended as usual. So that made the bar much more manageable that evening which was great! Such a great time to reconnect with old friends. I always get sad when I leave because I know it's only an annual thing. But then on the train home I realized that next year when I go back I will hopefully be at goal! I received many great compliments from people, so lots of NSV's this weekend.

Of course, in order to get to goal, my weight would need to be going down. The scale and I are officially in the title bout of the century. It refuses to budge and I keep getting angrier. Did I mention my scale is glass?!? ;-) I ate pretty well this weekend, limited portions, but of course it was all eating out, so hard to know the fat and salt content of things. I also had a few vodka cranberry's this weekend. So, when I came back today (mid-day) and weighed I was at 231. GRRR. So, I laid on my couch in defeat for about two hours and then got dressed and went down to the gym to do day three of the couch to 5k program. I ate 1200 calories today which is on the high end of what I've been eating. I try to stick under 1000, so I'm thrilled that my third fill is tomorrow afternoon. I'm hoping that now that they know my port is tilted it won't be so tough and perhaps this will be the fill that gets me to my sweet spot. Here's hoping! I will win this battle with my scale, and if I don't the people that live below should not be alarmed by the sounds of glass breaking!

  2. Good for you getting up and working out even though you were feeling disappointed with the scale.

My husband was in marching band at Southern University in Lousiana. I've gone with him to the battle of the bands between SU and Grambling and it was kind of the same thing you described. Old friends catching up...I can imagine what a fun weekend you had!

  4. You're down 50-something pounds in less than 8 months. Amazing! Don't let one pound...not even a pound, a fluctuation, distract you for another second. Just keep doing exactly what you've been doing. (And yay, another fill will be like a bonus.)

  6. Yep, Jess is right. We both lost a lot, fast and I know in my mind I am always hoping to get that streak back, but maybe we've slowed down so our bodies can adjust.

So glad to hear you had a great weekend. Love the coat you're wearing in the photos, tres chic.

The scale WILL budge. (Stupid scales!!!)
