How I'm Doing

Cha Cha Cha Changes.....

First off, I finally changed my profile picture, something that some of you ladies have been urging. It's from homecoming weekend, so very recent. Next, that d$mn scale finally moved. I'm down to 228.6, my lowest so far has been 229. Thank goodness! My scale and I are once again friends. I no longer have this mad urge to throw it out the window. But it should watch its back.

Next, today is day three of truly wearing the bodybugg. It's great, I really like it so far and find that it has helped me figure a few things out.
  1. I need to MOVE. And no, I don't mean move to LA, but I need to really move everyday, much more than I usually do, in order to achieve my calories burned for the day.
  2. I've been eating more calories than I think I have been.
  3. If your calories out exceeds your calories in you will lose weight.
So, the bodybugg has forced me to change. For example, this morning I walked to the 81st street subway instead of taking the one on my corner (86th street). At lunch, I walked 1.3 miles and when I get home tonight since it's an off night for C25k, I am going to walk on the treadmill. The bodybugg has proven to me that I need to do some sort of activity each day even if it's not a running day. If I don't do activity I will not achieve my calories burned and in order to lose weight I need to burn calories or eat less calories. Yesterday I exceeded my calories burned (supposed to be 2550 each day) and ate only 900 calories due to being on liquids. I lost 1.6 pounds this morning. I LIKE IT! ;-)

Now, on the not so good side. I'm hungry. I ate 3/4 cup of refried beans with cheese for lunch at 12, it's 3pm now and my stomach is growling. When you're at your sweet spot, you should be able to go for 4-6 hours without being hungry correct? For those of you that are near there, do you notice the restriction with mushies, or is it once you get to solid food that you are less hungry and can truly ascertain whether or not you're "there"? I may throw that question up on LBT and see what I get. For now, I'm off to eat my greek yogurt.

  1. no...I never really felt the restriction until I put good solid food in me. Even when I was a little too tight...so dont give up yet. When I am at or close to my sweetspot, I dont get physically hungry for at least 4 hours.

How does the bodybugg know how many calories you are eating?

  2. Thanks Amy...that's good to know.

You have to manually enter your calories for the body bugg. Uploaded to a website (bodybugg.com) that you get a 6 month subscription to with the bugg. I had been entering calories on my iphone app but had gotten lazy with it.

  3. Damn, I was hoping, by some miracle of technology, it just new...like if you put a taco in your mouth it would calculate it. I hate tracking my calories :( waaa!

  4. I'm glad you updated your pic :-)

I like tracking calories too. It really forces me to be aware of how much I am eating. I'm in the same place re: exercise. I am trying to w/o 6 days a week and even if I don't see immediate results on the scale, I know I am doing the right thing for my body. So it all works out in the end.

I don't have much in the way of restriction and time with the band, but I did notice that mushies didn't keep me full for very long, too.

  6. Your title of this post makes me sing :) The new pic looks awesome! Like Amy said I think it takes a few days to really notice restriction, probably because mushies are "slider foods" not sure if that makes sense or not lol

  7. Your new pic is just beautiful, you are shining out from page :)
I found that once I hit solids only then did the hunger start to abate and sometimes (but not every day) I could go anywhere from four to six hours without eating. Where I am now (I'm thinking major sweet spot! Whoooo) I can go a good five then the tummy rumbles hit.
You are doing magically, Jenny. Don't ever doubt yourself.
PS Thanks for the tip on the videoing on the blog. Unfortunately, after a lot of hunting around I found the same info as you and put it into action (did it work for you??) but it just wont change. I have restarted my comp and done everything it says but the video icon stays stubbornly away. I only have the image one still. I will keep working on it as I want to do a v-log too!

  11. Hi Jenny (or Jen? which do you prefer?) email your address to coloradofamily@hotmail.com and I will ship that coat on out. I spent my high school years in NY (about 90 mins upstate) so I know you need it!

Of course, its not going to fit for long! :)
