Random Thoughts for All and Peanuts for Amy

For those of you not in New York, it's raining today and it's crazy rain. Windy, rainy, under the covers kind of day. So, of course I chose to go out at 9am for iced coffee and to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. It's fantastic! Really well done, and since I think Tim Burton is genius, absolutely loved it. When Serena (my lovely neighbor turned friend) and I left the movie we noticed that they've put in a Five Napkin Burger restaurant across the street from the theater. They are these ooey, gooey literally five napkins needed to eat kind of burgers. I had a protein bar during the movie so wasn't hungry but told Serena I was happy to sit with her and drink while she ate. They of course gave us both menus and everything seemed amazing. But for the first time ever, I said "You know what, I'm not hungry, I'm not going to get anything". NSV!! I did order a glass of pinot grigio...nice Jen...12:15 in the afternoon. It was yummy. Anyway, I watched Serena take this bite of her burger and turned absolutely green with envy.
Okay, I know it doesn't look appetizing in the photograph, but the thing on the top is bun, followed by burger and lots of ketchup. This is what I miss. I miss being able to take a huge bite of the burger with the bun (not a bite of the burger that is the size of an eraser) and not worry about chewing until my mouth is sore or getting stuck. Now mind you, I don't miss it nearly as much as I love being 92 pounds lighter, but this, along with pizza is definitely a miss.

We left there and went to CVS. I have horrible asthma which I was hoping would diminish as I lost weight, but it's actually seemed to have gotten worse. Anyway, I'm cleaning my apartment today and in order to do that without having an asthma attack, I needed masks. We also slipped into a corner store which had the best selection of hummus. I got a new lemon hummus and tried the pine nut hummus for the first time. YUM! Oh, and for those of you who haven't tried them, rice crackers are the best with hummus, dips, etc. I have tried plain and cheese and they are both yum. They are very light, easy to chew and are 110 calories for 16 of them. I've tried the KAME brand so far.

I'm not sure if I blogged about this, but I have been jonesing to try Coconut M&M's since I saw a commercial for them about two months ago. Couldn't find them anywhere, even at the M&M store here in NYC. Well, found them today at CVS! Excited to try them later today, hopefully they are as great as they are in my mind.
Finally, Amy W posted a comment on my blog asking if I could weigh some peanuts for her. I finally did it Amy, and you've probably already got your answer by now, but here it is. 1 ounce of peanuts is approx 50 whole nuts (I even counted them for you ;o)). It's a little shy of 1/4 cup. Hope this helps!

Good job on the burger joint abstaining!!! I do miss taking a big bite of a burger too! but you are right, that 92 lb weight loss is much sweeter!!!

  10. Great post all around... I guess it hasn't been long enough for me to truly miss burger buns. I occasionally think: I haven't had soda since the new year, and that weirds me out, but I don't crave it. hmmm
I wonder what I'll be craving when I get several months down the line....???
