How I'm Doing

Next Fill Scheduled Early!

So, I do think that I feel a slight bit of restriction. I still get hungry about 2 to 2.5 hours after I eat, but it takes me longer to eat. Took me 30 minutes to eat my tuna melt today. Anyway, my thyroid surgery is scheduled for October 2nd. Originally my 2nd fill was supposed to be on October 8th but since I wasn't sure how I'd be feeling I decided to see if I could get it before surgery. Good news, I can! So my 2nd fill is now scheduled for September 21st. Not thrilled to go back on liquids for two days and mushies for two days, but I'll do it if it means more weight off!

I'm nervous about the thyroid surgery in a number of different ways.

1 - I've heard it's very painful....
2 - While the surgery itself is outpatient, my expected recovery time is two weeks at home and apparently people don't feel themselves for six months
3 - A side effect of losing part of your thyroid is WEIGHT GAIN!

So you bet your a$$ I'll be trying to lose as much as I can now!

Was so great to read everyone's blogs today!  Welcome back to Catherine and Amy and HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMY!

  2. We are here for you, Jen! At least in spirit :)
I feel for you. Having another op so soon after being banded sucks.. but as The Former Fat Girl says, you're doing this because you have to and its important.

  3. Harness your mental strength and energy for the surgery. If it's gotta be done, it's gotta be done. And it's always better to be safe than sorry. I'll pray your recovery goes well for the thyroid surgery!!!

  5. Thank you for the shout out! I am so happy that you can get in for a fill before your surgery and now I am nervous for your surgery as well. Have you talked to you WLS doc about the weight gain that is sometimes associated with the thyroid surgery?

At least you will have us bloggers to keep you cyber company while you are home!

  6. Aww Jen! Thsi is good and bad- good because it's best to get it done and bad because surgery sucks and your body has been through enough.

I have a hunch though that you'll recover quickly and you're so careful and informed, I think that with all the support of your Drs (and us), you'll pull through with little to no weight gain... and no more health issues, to boot!
