How I'm Doing

It's Been a Long Long Time!

Whew...it's been too long since I blogged, and let me just say this is going to be a long one. So strap in folks...here we go!

Camp:
Camp was absolutely ridiculous!! I had so much fun and worked my a$$ off! It was great to be with such amazing players again and have the fantastic feeling that comes with giving 110% in everything you do. I found a video on youtube of the 2nd part of the show I marched in 1993. If you look closely, I'm on the far right hand side at about 1:54 into the video. Star of Indiana Video I feel absolutely blessed to be able to play with these people and am thrilled I made the choice to do this. By the way, there are two adorable snare drum players that I get to stare at, and one of them even smiled at me! ;-) Forgive me, I'm a little boy crazy lately. My friend Melissa and I went to a natural food store when we got there and I bought food for the weekend. They had food for us, but it was of course mac and cheese and spaghetti, garlic bread etc. I bought a salad that lasted me two meals, nuts, greek yogurt and granola and crackers and hummus. That was what I ate over the weekend and it was perfect. One of my friends said "Wow Jen, you eat so healthy". Ha! I LOVE IT! We got measured for uniforms and all that I could think was, holy cow I may be at goal by August! This is going to be one big uniform. ;-)

NSV:
Had a great NSV today. One of my colleagues Stacy who has been out for 2 months on maternity brought her baby in today. She saw me coming down the hall and said "Wow, you look great. Someone's been working hard while I've been away". She doesn't know I had surgery.

Tough Day but Amazing Friends:
Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of my father's death. The day before was a slow day at work and I found it to be really tough. Lots of tears from simple things like listening to music. Yesterday I was slammed which was a good thing. My girlfriends took me to dinner last night which was great. We laughed and drank prickly pear margaritas, toasted to my dad. I miss him every day, but I'm incredibly lucky to have had him in my life and that because of him (and my mom) I was born into the absolute best family in the world.

Work:
Absolutely insane. I had two clients from an organization I work with in Boston call asking me to design and facilitate meetings for them...when you ask, oh NEXT WEEK. UGH! We have our company holiday party next Wed night and cute IT boy will be there, so I said that I could do the meetings but I had to be home by Wed night. Well, now I have to be in Portland for another client meeting, so I'm flying straight from Boston to Portland for meetings Thu/Fri. Bye Bye cute IT boy. :-(
Does anyone who reads this blog live in Portland???? The biggest bummer, Yes even bigger than missing the opportunity to cavort with cute IT boy, is that I just rescheduled my fill from Wed (since I'll be in Boston) to Thursday. So Heather if you're reading this and you still have your appt on the 29th, can we switch?

Last thing...and if you're still reading I love you. I hit 209 this week! I really wanted to try and get to 199 by the end of the year, but I've only lost two pounds in the last two weeks, so I'm thinking 205 will be just fine.

I've been keeping up on all of your blogs. Missed you ladies!

  2. The video on u tube was amazing. I remember in High School, I was in the Drill Team & we performed during the Football games with the Marching Band. I was fantastic. Makes me wish for those days again!

If I lived even close to Portland, I would meet with you, but I live closer to Sacramento, CA. If you ever get here, let me know & I would love to meet with you!

Sorry you have to miss the party with IT boy!

    Happy Holidays

  3. Yeah! It was so great to get caught up with you :) It's so exciting that you are getting back into your band stuff! It sounds like that was such a big part of your life and you enjoyed it so much so it's nice to see you bringing that back into your life!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My mom passed away just this past February (her 52nd birthday would have been last Friday) so I know exactly what you are going through with missing a parent. It can be so hard and it's so true about thinking about them every single day.

Are you headed to Portland, Maine or Oregon? It's been SUPER chilly out here in the Northwest so bundle up if you are headed this way. If you are ever in Seattle (or if I'm ever out that way) we will need to get together!!! :)

Oh! And you are so stinking close to onederland I can hardly stand it so I can't imagine how you feel! :)

  7. ooooh, 209 is my "magic number". It is the lowest I have ever been in my adult life. Soooooon I will hopefully see it too!

I am glad you had fun at band camp :)

Also, I am sorry to hear about your dad. I cannot even imagine. Some of my worst nightmares are about losing my parents. I told them they are just going to have to live forever.

Thanks for sharing everything with us!

  9. My dearest Jen !
I totally feel your frustration with our Jan 1st goal !1 It just seems that everything has been working against me and the scale lately !! I just got to 209 this week sooo...can we reevaluate our goal date???

I wish I had the right words to say about your father..all I can say is that as long as you remeber what a great father and genuine person he was he will always live in your heart and walk next to you everyday, and all those moments in your life when those little marvelous things happen..it might actually be your dad doing them for you !!!

    XOXOXO
