Okay ladies. I'm taking a HUGE step today and inviting whoever wants to join me to do so. I spoke earlier in the year about one of my goals being to run a half marathon. Well I just checked and the Disney Princess Half is February 27th in Orlando Florida. Registration is open and I'm signing up today. Can't believe I'm going to do this but I need something to strive for on the exercise front and running a half marathon through a place that makes me feel like a kid while wearing a tiara just seems like something I can't pass up! Jen sent me a half marathon training schedule a few weeks ago and so I'm kicking it off tomorrow!
Here's the link to the race. Let me know if you're interested. Would be fun to do it with others!

This sounds like a great idea! I will check my schedule and see if I can join you! I wanna run my half with a tiara too!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun! I know you will kick butt.
ReplyDeleteSomeone I know is doing the Disneyland Half today and I was litterally just looking at the Princess Half. I really really want to do it, but since everything is up in the air right now I can't commit. I will however start saving up just in case :)
ReplyDeleteOh, now that's tempting. I live about 9 miles from Disney. And I ran a mile straight yesterday - 13 straight can't be that much harder, can it? LOL
ReplyDeleteThe Hal Higdon training schedule is 12 weeks. If I am doing the math right, I'd need to start training on December 6. His training schedule assumes you can run 3-4 miles. That gives me essentially 3 months to get to the starting point. I can certainly go from 1 mile to 3 miles in 3 months, right?
OK, let me sleep on it, but I'm 90% sure I am in. OMG. What am I saying?!?!?!
Ohhh, and I just checked my dorksheet, I mean my spreadsheet, and I would be really, really, really close to onederland by then. OMG, if I actually trained for this, I could push myself ahead of my weight loss goals, and I could try to be at onederland AND run a half-marathon...
ReplyDeleteOMG. I am kinda freakin' out if you can't tell!
Amy (or anyone who is interested)- there is another training program by Galloway that is 16 weeks. You don't have to be able to run 3 miles straight just miles with walk breaks. If you are interested here is the link http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/half_marathon.html There is also a coniditioning program you can follow to get to the training. You might be even able to find a group program in your area that does Galloway's style.
ReplyDeleteI am doing the group training now and LOVE it! If anyone has any questions just let me know.
I will be there to cheer you girls on!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I can't join (do not envision running a half marathon anytime soon)-- but I will be excited for your training and offer my 2 cents from my running days.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I can't come in for tomorrow's brunch...have family plans. :-(
Will miss you guys!!
Congrats on that ambitious goal. I wish I'd be there to at least hand you bottles of water.
ReplyDeletehow exciting!!!! that's got to be the COOLEST time to wear a tiara unless you're an actual real life princess :)
ReplyDeleteI once looked into doing the 5K at Disney and gave up on that dream before I ever committed. I can't see myself being even close to doing a half marathon (not sure i'll ever be) but will be cheering you all the way starting tomorrow!!! Keep us posted on how training goes
I can come to take pictures.. but my old lady knees would not hold out.. but will cheer you all on none the less. I think the idea is absolutely fantastic..
ReplyDeleteMUCHO CONGRATS ON SIGNING UP FOR THE HALF MARATHON! YOU CAN SOOOOO DO THAT!!!
ReplyDeleteI nominated you for a blog award! http://lizandrk.blogspot.com/2010/09/blog-award.html
Wish I could, but hubby, kids and I will be in Orlando the week before for a family vacation at Universal. Don't think I can swing going back a week later. Good luck!
