Really Tough Day!

I'll have to back through my blog to see if this has happened before, but I had the most random HORRIBLE band day today. I'm going to back up to last night, just to tell a fun story before the grossness begins! ;-)

My mom is kind of a big deal. ;-) She is a professional opera singer, did a lot of work in Arizona and the West while I grew up out there. She did a lot of performing here in New York, but has focused a mostly on teaching for the past ten years. Anyway, throughout her performing/teaching life, she has had the pleasure of meeting some pretty great people. One of them is a makeup director for the Broadway show Promises Promises. Mom's in town, so we went to see it last night. 4th row center, backstage tour (I've never been onstage at a Broadway theater before). While we were on the stage, Sean (Hayes...Jack from Will and Grace and the star of the show) walked by. Carmel (mom's friend) is his hairdresser/makeup artist. Sean introduced himself to me, we chatted for about three minutes, he was absolutely 100% a doll. Such a fun night! Prior to that, I'd taken mom to dinner at Blue Fin (yummy NYC fish place). Band was fine, I drank a lot, ate yummy food (1 piece of shrimp, halibut and had 1/2 a bite of her sushi - first time I tried rice) all was good and fine with the band.

Imagine my surprise when I head to CT this morning to see best friend Liz and her new baby (my niece Harper) for lunch. Mom hadn't had the chance to meet Harper, so it was the perfect opportunity before she leaves tomorrow. We went to a great organic bakery/bread place. I've been there many times before - they have amazing lemon tarts. I typically opt for the yogurt and granola parfait. I also ordered a glass of pinot grigio. Took three sips, slimed it all up in the bathroom. Mind you I hadn't even eaten anything, it was 1pm. What's up? I don't have my (.), I haven't slimed in about two weeks so my band wasn't irritated. Huh? So my yogurt and granola show up, I take two bites, throw up in the bathroom (or I should say slime in the bathroom). We decide to walk a bit, went to Ann Taylor, mom bought me a great new dress (green, tank, pockets!) We got in the car and headed to get massages, yummy! Felt great, no longer felt ill. Started to drive back into the city around 3:30, mom suggested I try some of the yogurt again - I had three bites of yogurt, an iced coffee and three sips of wine all day, so I tried. So much mucus after three bites, that I had to pull over and throw up. Seriously almost puked in the car in front of my mom. RIDICULOUS. Proceeded to slime some more once I got home. Still don't get why I was so tight, my fill was four weeks ago. Regardless, I got some chicken noodle soup, and believe the warmth helped. Feeling much better now, able to eat some nuts in addition to the soup. Hoping that tomorrow when I wake up, all will be normal again. So strange this band. Seriously has such an attitude some days!!

  1. ME TOO! Sooooo tight today. Couldn't do tomato soup for lunch. Tried some fries at dinner. PB'ed those. Haven't eaten all day...seriously have the headache from hell right now from not eating or drinking much. No period, last fill was 3 months ago, no PBs in the last few weeks, no stuck episodes. Just tight out of nowhere!

  2. Oh no - that sounds awful! I'm not a PB/Slimmer, so I don't really have to deal with that stuff. I do however have a bit of fickle band lately too.
I hope you get up tomorrow and can eat.

  3. How was the show? Family and I went to New York week before last and saw Adam's Family. Definitely would appreciate any shows you can suggest that would appeal to an 11 and 14 year old as well as 2 adults. We saw Rock of Ages last year and loved it. Sorry to hear about your band, but very cool you got to meet Sean - I loved him in Will and Grace. Hope your band behaves tomorrow.

  5. Yuck... Days like these freak everyone out around you... which in turn freaks you out. If I cough around my Hubby after or while eating, he gets so upset and concerned that I am going to erupt all over... I wish you could enjoy your visit with your mom more... It wasn't stressful at all was it? I know stress affects my band alot. *Maria*-Blogger from "This one time at BAND Camp..." Check out my blog at mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com

  6. Blahhh, poor you. I don't know why but these bands of ours can be damn fickle. I think we all get it to one extent or another: one day the food goes down great and all is fine, the next it wants to throw a tantrum. Sorry you had such a yuck day food wise.
On the personal front all sounds good. Love that you met the guy from Will and Grace, he's such a sweetie. Sounds like you had a great time all round... except for that damn band!!

  10. I call the band a finicky b*tch because seriously! It does have a mind of its own sometimes for no reason!! Besides the slime incidents, it sounds like you had a great time and how awesome you got to meet Sean!

One of my friends TMac is besties with Sean's bestie and they did the same thing last week - went to the show and then backstage to hang with him. So jealous!!! Did you see Cheno backstage? Well, I hope you feel better soon hotstuff! xo,js

  12. Wow...that sucks. I wish I could offer some words of wisdom but 4 months banded and still have yet to experience sliming, PBing, getting stuck, or even the feeling of tightness.
At least you had a great time with your mom...there's yet another thing I can't relate to. LOL.

  14. I totally want to see Promises Promises and Sean! Lucky Girl! Yes, Blue Fin = yummy seafood - love it!

Sorry to hear that your band is giving you trouble again! When I have days like that lately I have been trying to begin meals with soup. The warmth does seem to loosen it up a bit. Hope you are feeling better. <3
