How I'm Doing

Plastic Surgery

I've always known since beginning this journey that plastic surgery was going to be a prize at the end of it. I say that sarcastically because really who wants to get extra skin removed as a prize? But after losing 125 pounds once, gaining about 90 back and now having lost 106, likely 120 by the end of this whole thing, my skin has been through the wringer.

Again from the beginning, I thought that I'd have lyposuction - I have a pocket of fat that I've had on one of my thighs that a doctor told me years ago couldn't be exercised away. I also thought I'd do a tummy tuck. Fast forward to today. The two things I want more than any other. Arm surgery and a breast lift. I'm feeling really good about how I look these days in clothes. I'm wearing dresses all of the time, but always have to wear them with cardigan's because my arms have so much sagging and cellulite ridden skin. In addition, with this weight loss, my arms are actually really skinny. I'm in shock by how tiny they are. So, if the extra skin were removed, even with the scars I feel like I've feel significantly better wearing sleeveless things.

As for my breasts, they have literally disintegrated. I've always been somewhat saggy, but at least when they were DD, they were really full and saggy. Now, I'm a C cup, which means they are still saggy but now not at all full. I hate them and would love to have them lifted. Not worried about them remaining a C cup, perfectly happy with that, but good lord, could we get them to be a little perkier??

So, once I get to goal, I'm headed to a plastic surgeon for a consult with arms and boobs being the first priority. If I had all of the money in the world, that would be followed by a tummy tuck and lipo but that's a whole lot of surgery and nobody's perfect right???

Skinny arm (if I hide the bat wing)

Bat wings pictures...ugh

If I hide the extra skin here's what it would look like:

Please excuse the pj's and no makeup by the way...

What you don't see in these pictures is the cellulite. If it was just fat, I think I could handle it, but it's the wrinkly skin that I just cannot deal with!

  1. Good luck. I'd totally get a boob lift if I had the money. My tummy tuck was indeed worth it!

  3. I don't think your arms look bad at all in the photo where you let your batwings fly free...but I totally understand where you're coming from on the, "if only you saw it in person" bit.

I think the scars are totally worth the perfect upper arms. I am already planning to max out my flex account next year to do the exact same things.

  7. I am with you on the boob lift and aug...I am so there. I am just wondering if I can make myself wait until after I have kids. I worked with a plastic surgeon and so I've seen every surgery you can have; and you have to really really want the "bat wings" gone to sign up for the surgery. Scars from elbow to arm pit and they tend to widen because you use your arms so much...like I said, you have to really, really want it. I think your arms look good.

  8. Man, your arms are skinny!! I'm like you and had an 80 pound weight loss followed by pregnancy, massive regain, and now hopefully 130 pound weight loss. My abdominal skin is shot to hell. I'm amazed at how loose the skin on my thighs can be. I work with a nurse who had the batwings removed. The scars are pretty awful. I agree with Jen. You have to really want it. You are looking fantastic!!!

  9. I know about this from experience. Had a 125 lb loss and had tummy and breast lift back in 1994. I later gained it back but fortunately the lift is still holding pretty well.
As for the bat wings...the procedure from what I know does NOT render very satisfied customers for exactly the reasons cited by Jen and Camille.
Your arms are fine...if you're gonna spend the money, do breast and tummy...much more gratifying.

  10. You know, our arms look very similar. I too, have the cellulite stuff on my bat wings now. Didn't have that prior to losing 50 pounds from my band surgery, but now it is very very noticeable.
I don't think I will be having the plastic surgery any time soon (cost is one factor)...but I have to wonder, is there ANYTHING we can do to improve the looks of our arms? Anybody know? I would be willing to do any exercise if I just knew what it was.

I think you look amazing, Jenny!

  11. Looking at your arms, they could be my arms, and if you have the money and the want I say go it. No point in getting this far and living with whatever bugs you so much. But for what its worth, you are looking so amazing and you photograph beautifully. You're just beautiful all round. xx

  12. you've worked too hard not to be happy with what you see in the mirror. at my first surgical consult the other day, the doc who will be doing my lapband surgery already told me i'm likely to have a tummy tuck (which he can do) and possible bat wing surgery (my terminology, not his. i'd have to go to a plastic surgeon for that one. will see when i get there, but for you, i say go for it!

  13. I am right there with you! Thankfully, we have a dear friend who is a plastic surgeon but he lives in CA... he did say that arm surgery is pretty hard and the scars are hard to hide - I don't think I care about that personally! I may end up with the mommy make over first - tummy and boobs - we'll see! I have to be sure I'm finished having kids first though before I am willing to spend the money!!!

  14. LOOK AT THOSE GUNS! Your biceps are awe-inspiring. I'll be sure not to offend you at brunch. ;)

As someone who is intensely bothered by my arms, I feel for you, truly. I do think your arms look a lot better to the rest of the world than they do to you. They look pretty good. But if it bothers you a lot and you're self-conscious, then talk to a couple surgeons and see what they say.

Re the boobs: DO IT. I think that's one of those surgeries that can really, really make a difference.

And I'm definitely getting a tummy tuck at the end of this road.

    xoxo
