- Jacqui and I FINALLY got together for brunch. We hadn't seen each other since our first fill so it was great to see her. She is SO tiny!! We got our "Onederland" mani's and pedi's and then went to brunch at Dos Caminos. (I know this news shocks you...prickly pair margaritas were had.) This is of course all Catherine's influence. By the way, if you haven't checked out her blog today, do it immediately. She is 3.4 pounds away from goal!!!
- I went through my closet yesterday and am officially into the back of the closet clothing!! In fact, a blouse that I wore my first day at work fits (it will be five years in April and it's my badge picture that I look at everyday)! This is mostly the size 16 stuff in my closet. There are two Ann Taylor suits and some pants that are size 14, those are still probably about 15 pounds away.
- I am wearing a pair of size 16 BANANA REPUBLIC pants tomorrow that Catherine gave me. WHOO HOO!
- One of the women in our creative department - I just met her last year and probably see her about once a month. I saw her today and she said "Did you lose weight?" TEE HEE
- I talked to a former client today (J) who I LOVE. Seriously, he and I are great buddies and he's a total cutie - don't get excited ladies, he's been married twice and has been with the same gal for a few years now. He said "I hear all things are good for you...looking good, feeling good". Turns out he was in NYC last week but we didn't see each other, so it's nice to see that other people are noticing enough to say something to him.
- I ordered two camisole's from Frederick's of Hollywood tonight. HA! Me = FREDERICK'S! I needed one that plunged for one of my Vegas dresses. That meant I needed to visit a sexy store. ;-)
- I did day two of the fourth week of C25k yesterday and lived.
Now for the bad news. I had to go visit a site that I'm facilitating a meeting at for the next three days and walked there in my high heel boots. Well, I think the hardness of the pavement against my heels wreaked havoc on my right foot. The outside of it is killing me as is my right knee. I'm icing it now and took an anti-inflammatory. Here's the killer part - I really want to run tomorrow night. Seriously people, who is the girl in my body?? ;-) I think I need to suck it up and get fitted for running shoes. I have a good pair of shoes, but former client (J) - former college basketball star and runner, said it makes all the difference in the world if you go to a running store where they watch your gait, etc. So, I think that will be my gift to my body after my tax return this year.
Lastly, I'm about to have one of the coolest experiences of my adult work life this week. I had a really tough situation when I met my most recent client. Really rough guy with a pretty large ego. I decided that I wasn't the facilitator that he needed for this meeting and brought the President (R) of my parent company (big PR firm) in to meet him. Just to put (R) in perspective, he just returned from being a participant at the World Economic Forum. He is such a cool guy and I feel like I've learned a ton from him already. Beginning tomorrow, (R) and another partner from the firm who I also haven't worked with and little ole me are facilitating this three day meeting. They are doing the heavy lifting, but I'll be there to partner with them, adding my perspective, etc. Such a huge value for me! Then, after this excellent experience, I get to go to VEGAS with my very best girlfriends. Life is good!
p.s. Random, but for those of you who watched the Grammy's last night, a couple of thoughts. 1) Dave Matthews is one of my favorite musicians. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting him one night and he was awesome (stoned) but awesome. I thought his was one of the best performances last night. 2) Beyonce = AMAZING, pretty much always and 3) I am a new fan of the Zac Brown Band. Holy cow can that man play the guitar!!
xoxo

Fredericks of Hollywood, woot! That's awesome, you are doing great...and Banana Republic..? Nice, I don't think I've ever worn their clothes.
ReplyDeleteGood post!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I am so loving all the clothes you're able to get into now. Awesome.
You're friend is totally right re: the sneaks, they can tell if you pronate or shift and they can see if one leg is longer than the other, etc etc. Plus as a bonus the guys that work there are usually young, hot athletes.
Just sayin'.

Jen - LOVE the fact that you're ordering fancy panties / camis! Whooo Hoooo! I have to find that courage - not there yet! And as for the shoes, definitely get fitted - I thought that was all bunk until I did and I LOVE MY SNEAKERS! I definitely will get fitted professionally from now on. And the price isn't that different (maybe 2%).
ReplyDeleteoooo I want nice fitted shoes! Where do you do something like that??
ReplyDeleteYAY for fredricks! We have a store around me, but i've never tried anything on, hoping in a few lbs I will be able to get something cute too!
Double YAY for banana republic pants, that is HUGEEEEE!
P.S Please come back to MA soon!
Wow, what a great day you had! Jacqui is great; we are meeting up tomorrow night. I love that we have so many people in our area, we are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteAs for the running, I would suggest visiting JackRabbit in Union Square (http://jackrabbitsports.com/products/). I have heard so many great things about them. They really put a lot of work into figuring out which shoe is perfect for you. I unfortunately have not been, I got my running shoes at Super Runners Shop on Amsterdam(http://www.superrunnersshop.com/). <3
I can't wait to shop at Bananna Republic!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kristen!! Come back!
ReplyDeleteLOVE all these NSV!! woo hoo
Go Jen!
Hey Jen...glad life is so good for you at the moment. Congrats on the clothes and good luck with the meeting. I have suffered 2 injuries from running and seriously reccomend you getting proper sneakers like Brooke said. Also a few days rest on the leg if needed is way better than months doing nothing (like me) because you made it worse. Take it easy
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Jen.... as for the running: take it from an experienced runner-- the word in running is "Running slower than you think, run more often than you think"-- and I would add: if you body hurts: TAKE A BREAK.
ReplyDeleteYou will get there and your muscles and ligaments MUST catch up to your greater cardio health.
how about doing some spinning or low impact for a few days until your knee feels ready to go.
Also: work on some strength training for your quads-- maybe ask a trainer at your gym. Classic issue for female runners: WEAK quads and this leads to knee pain.
Just some thoughts for you and congrats on the kick as girl inside telling you to go for it. Just tell her to calm down (a little) and be careful and cross training is VERY good for runners too!!
Wowser woman! You covered a lot in that post! haha! Buuuut first of all, congradulations on all the work stuff, you seem real excited about it! Hope the ankle gets better, I know how you feel missing running. I hope your upcoming Vegas trip is wonderful! And way to go on getting into your smallest clothes, you willl have to rebuy everything real soon!!!
