Good News/Bad News

Well the good news is I have a surgery date!! Well, a tentative one that is, August 3rd. I should hear about insurance approval next week, so all fingers and toes are crossed. I'm absolutely thrilled, the surgeon was great and everyone at the office was so nice, it made for a really great experience. The bad news is that my thyroid specialist called on Thursday to tell me that while most of the nodule was benign, there is a part of it which appears to be abnormal and could be a small bit of cancer. He made sure to say that it wouldn't have an impact on my life expectancy....um....really...over the phone?!?

I'm taking it all in stride. I should receive the paperwork on Monday to have a nuclear test which will provide him with more information, but he's pretty sure I'll need to have it out. Which means surgery....I've never had surgery and now could potentially end up having two rather close together. My biggest concern at this point is that it's going to impact the LAP BAND surgery, so hopefully I can go through with that and if the nodule needs to come out, it can wait until September or something. Wow....
